About OBAT

On an alien planet scoured by reptilian factions and steeped in Mana, Archer travels inland with their adoptive father to decipher a mysterious visitor’s messages...

OBAT (Of Blood and Tephra) is a post-apocalyptic story set on a former rogue planet named Elladion. It features alien "dino-folk" called Valenkin among many other reptillian races. The fantasy aspect is deriven from in-universe imbibement of a blood-like substance called Mana that is volatile and parasitic by nature. OBAT exists as a playing field for many of my characters and ideas regarding spec-evo, color theory, biology, horror, and sci-fi.

OBAT is a loose relaunch of my childhood collection of handwritten composition books titled Thunder Stone (Yes, very original, young me...) which saw rodent-like aliens called "Syancains" (now "Sycans") weilding magical powers within crystals to protect their dimension from harm. These crystals contained conciousnesses that served as intermediaries / buffers between the user and the power within the gems. This became the basis from which Phantasms would play a role in OBAT, as well as the parasitic, all-encompassing nature of Mana.

OBAT would not have been possible without the support and worldbuilding contributions of my good friend Brazengears, of whom's GAU / "Caretaker-Verse" shares parts of it's lore with OBAT....and who's always been willing to listen to my late night 2am rambling about gay space dinosaurs and gun lizards.
